Nordic Air Ambulance provides ground ambulance transport as part of complete bed-to-bed medical transfers across Scandinavia and Europe.
Ground ambulance services are coordinated independently or together with air ambulance and medical escort missions to ensure continuity of care throughout the entire journey.
Transport may be arranged between hospitals, from hospital to airport, or from the arrival airport to the receiving medical facility.
BLS and ALS Ambulance Services
Ground transfers are carried out as either Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS), depending on the patient’s medical condition.
Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance services are suitable for patients who require monitoring, oxygen therapy, or assistance during transport but do not need advanced medical intervention.
Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulance services are used when a higher level of medical care is necessary. An ALS ambulance is equipped for cardiac monitoring, airway management, intravenous medication, and other advanced clinical procedures during transport.
The appropriate level of support is determined based on medical assessment prior to transfer.
Local and Cross-Border Transfers
Ground ambulance transport may be arranged on its own for regional or cross-border patient transfers.
Depending on the patient’s needs, transport is carried out as BLS or ALS with the appropriate medical crew and equipment.
Bed-to-Bed Medical Transfer
In a bed-to-bed transfer, the entire journey is arranged as one coordinated operation from the referring hospital to the receiving facility.
This includes ground ambulance transport, air ambulance or medical escort, and final ground transfer upon arrival.
