Nordic Air Ambulance supports a wide range of air ambulance missions across Scandinavia, Europe and worldwide. Our aircraft are equipped for advanced medical transport, allowing safe transfer of patients requiring anything from monitored care to full intensive care support. Each mission is assessed individually to determine the aircraft setup, medical crew, and equipment needed for the flight.
Air ambulance services cover bed-to-bed ICU transfers, medical repatriation, neonatal and pediatric transport, bariatric cases, and specialized missions such as infectious patient transfer or ECMO coordination.
ICU Critical Care Air Transport
Intensive care air transport is required when a patient remains unstable or dependent on advanced life-support systems. This may include mechanical ventilation, continuous infusions, invasive monitoring, or cardiovascular support.
Aircraft are configured to allow ongoing treatment throughout the flight, ensuring continuity of care between the referring and receiving hospitals.
Neonatal and Pediatric Air Transport
Transporting newborns and children requires dedicated equipment and specific clinical expertise. Depending on the patient’s condition, transfers may involve incubator systems, neonatal ventilators, or pediatric monitoring equipment.
Careful preparation is essential, particularly regarding temperature control, respiratory stability, and coordination with the receiving medical team.
Bariatric Patient Transport
For patients requiring additional space or modified loading solutions, aircraft configuration and stretcher systems are adapted accordingly. The focus remains on safe handling and continued medical access during the flight.
Infectious Patient Transport
When isolation measures are required, appropriate precautions are implemented in accordance with medical guidance. Protective procedures are established to safeguard both patient and crew while maintaining necessary clinical care.
ECMO Transport
Transporting a patient supported by ECMO requires close cooperation with specialist teams and careful mission planning. Equipment setup, power supply considerations, and clinical handover are coordinated before departure to ensure stability during transfer.
Medical Repatriation Flights
Air Ambulance Services
Air ambulance transport may also be arranged to return patients to their home country for continued treatment. Depending on the clinical situation, this may involve monitored care or full ICU-level support during longer-distance flights.
